How to tuck a T-shirt into jeans?
We often talk about casual style in our publications. It gives incredible comfort, therefore it is widespread in the world. There is no formality in it, and individuality, comfort and freedom of movement are always in the foreground. And despite the fact that in the literal translation "casual" sounds like "careless" or "everyday", the basis of the style is the absence of sloppiness. And its base is long sleeves, vests, tops, T-shirts. Plain, striped or with a discreet pattern, they are ideally combined with other wardrobe items, but best of all with jeans.
Jeans and a T-shirt are a universal ensemble. We use it with pleasure every time when there is absolutely no time or no desire to choose an outfit. And it is also informal clothing, unanimously approved by the majority. Jeans and a T-shirt go together perfectly, and the images created with their help can be easily diluted with elements of other styles.
There is nothing complicated in their ensemble, and it goes well with most things, shoes and accessories. But this is precisely what complicates the search for original combinations, because when absolutely everything is possible, it is easy to get lost in the sea of options. Meanwhile, this duet can be given a twist that will easily allow you to effectively stand out from the crowd and more advantageously emphasize the advantages of any figure. It is enough to just apply a stylistic trick - beautifully tuck a T-shirt into jeans. And there are several options for how to do this. But first, let's figure out who can wear a T-shirt tucked in and who can wear it loose.
WHICH IS CORRECT: TUCK IN OR LEAVE IT OUT? AND HOW TO WEAR A T-SHIRT WITH JEANS DEPENDING ON YOUR FIGURE FEATURES?
As for "is it right to tuck it in or leave it out?" - this is the case when both options are possible. As for appropriateness, a tucked-in T-shirt is always appropriate. But there are general rules and specific cases when it is possible and when it is undesirable to tuck the top down.
General rules
You shouldn't tuck your T-shirt in if:
- it will create folds that will be clearly visible on tight-fitting jeans;
- there is a photo, drawing, inscription, decorative stitching, slits or other decor on the T-shirt, some of which may be “lost” if the item is tucked in;
- the top is too short and there is a risk that it will constantly “ride out”.
A T-shirt really needs to be tucked in when:
- it fits tightly and shows all the details of the jeans: coin and main pockets, straps, buckle, patch (under a tight T-shirt all this does not look aesthetically pleasing);
- the top and bottom are the same color, while the T-shirt (tank top) is transparent or paler than the jeans.
Special cases
You need to have a very good sense of style and a great figure to tuck a T-shirt into jeans. And if men's models are almost never made with the expectation that they will be tucked in, then with women's T-shirts the situation is the opposite. And here it is important to start from the features of the body type.
- With a medium or high waistline, you can wear a T-shirt tucked in or untucked, in both a loose or fitted style.
- If your waistline is low (long torso, short legs), wear high-waisted jeans. This will improve the proportionality of your figure, and a tucked-in T-shirt will look nice. You can wear either a very short item or a long one, 5-7 cm below the mid-hip line. With other options, the picture will look depressing.
- If there are extra centimeters at the waist, it is not recommended to tuck the T-shirt. The exception would be models with a waist bulge. This bulge (by the way, it can be imitated if the T-shirt is loose enough) masks the problem area when the bottom of the T-shirt is tucked into jeans.
- Those with narrow shoulders and/or a small bust can use an ensemble of tight bottoms (skinny jeans) and a fluffy top (oversized T-shirt). Moreover, the latter can be worn loose or tucked in.
- If you have wide shoulders and/or a large bust, it is better to replace the tight bottoms with wide jeans. In this case, a tucked T-shirt will give the silhouette proportionality.
HOW TO TUCK A T-SHIRT INTO JEANS TO MAKE IT LOOK STYLISH?
You can tie the T-shirt on your body or over your jeans, or you can tuck it into your jeans. In the latter case, there are several options for making your look extraordinary and memorable. Here they are:
- Fully tucked in, no slouching.
- Fully tucked in, slouching.
- Tucked in at the front.
- Only one edge.
1. Fully tucked in, no slouching.
Unlike a loose T-shirt, a fully tucked-in one makes the silhouette lighter and more proportional, clearly defining the shoulders, waist and legs. In cold weather, such a set can be complemented with a jacket, blazer, coat or cardigan.
An oversized T-shirt and a straight cut model can be gathered in a pleat at the front. To do this, when tucking in the garment, wrap its right side over the left. You will get a tight-fitting silhouette with unusual folds that will go from the line of the right and left chest to the stomach.
2. Fully tucked in T-shirt with a slouch
Another "classic" option of how to wear a T-shirt with jeans. By the way, this way of wearing will look perfect on any woman, regardless of her body type. The overlap can be from two to five centimeters. Leaving a little space between the belt and the body, you level out the extra centimeters at the waist. Original jewelry, as well as a small shoulder bag will be the finishing touches to your stylish ensemble.
3. T-shirt tucked in at the front
A beautiful option for a casual look, informal meetings, study, a romantic date, visiting a club. By tucking a T-shirt into jeans partially, only in the front, you visually reduce the volume of the hips and "draw" a thin waist. Due to what? Due to the neat distribution of the drapery in the front.
An asymmetrical T-shirt style, in which the back is longer than the front, will also look interesting. "Asymmetry" will further distract attention from problem areas and correct the figure. And if your figure has no flaws in the waist and hips, then you don't have to worry about this at all - just wear this option and enjoy a casual and interesting look.
The look with a tucked-in T-shirt can be made more formal if you complement the look with a jacket or blazer. With stiletto heels, this set will be ideal for a romantic date.
By the way, you can tuck your T-shirt not only in the front, but even in the back - tank tops, tops and T-shirts are now often made with special slits on the sides.
4. Tuck one edge in and leave the other free
This is the most popular option for wearing a T-shirt with jeans among fashion lovers. It is better to choose an oversized model made of linen, silk, or cotton. The main thing is that the fabric of the clothes is not too thick, otherwise the look will look rough. And which side to leave the free edge on is a matter of taste.
If the jeans have a high waist, then this look can visually stretch the silhouette and make the waist more graceful.
